CCSVI diagnosis and endovascular treatment
Medicover Hospital offers diagnosis and treatment of chronic cerebro-spinal venous insufficiency (CCSVI).
Only patients with diagnosed cerebral venous pathology qualify for treatment.
Preliminary, non-invasive tests involve Doppler ultrasound with colour flow imaging and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).
All diagnostic and additional lab tests are performed at the hospital's diagnostic laboratories. All tests are carried out in accordance with the Stanford protocol. To ensure safety and comfort for patients, the diagnostic and treatment package is offered in the form of in-house hospitalisation at the Medicover vascular surgery ward.
Day one:
- Vascular surgery ward admission, preliminary consultation and Doppler ultrasound
- Magnetic resonance imaging
- Treatment qualification according to the test results
Day two:
- The aim of the treatment is correction of anatomical vein abnormalities (stenosis, pathological valves, etc) using endovascular techniques such as balloon angioplasty (PTA) and, in specific cases, stenting. The procedure is performed by the team comprising an interventional radiologist and a vascular surgeon. The procedure is performed at the interventional radiology laboratory: phlebography (to confirm the presumptive diagnosis) and balloon angioplasty
-
The patient is discharged after spending one night in hospital under medical
supervision if the presence of early complications is excluded
In the case of treatment disqualification (no pathology confirmed, or pathology that does not require intravenous correction) the patient only pays for the diagnostic tests performed and the hospital stay.
