Periodontology
Periodontology is a special division of dentistry which deals with the periodontal apparatus. Periodontist treats all forms of gum infections, bone or gum recessions etc. Periodontal disease is an infection of the gums which is the caused by accumulation of bacteria and plaque usually owing to an improper dental hygiene. Examination of the gums for the diagnosing periodontal disease is known as periodontal diagnosis.
