Artificial Discs
An artificial disc may be required when the disk between two vertebral levels are degenerated beyond the point of repair. This procedure usually removes the entire disc between two vertebral bodies and replaces it with an implant that mimics the function and motion of the disc. To date, there is still a lot of controversy about this type of treatment. Clinical data show conflicting results. Treatment in Poland judges this treatment as a valid option for a very limited patient group. This procedure requires an advanced spine specialist for establishing the diagnosis and also for carrying out the procedure. Treatment in Poland rates this as an advanced specialist procedure.
