Disc Removal
Disc removal or discectomy most commonly refers to the removal of the inner portions of the disc – the nucleus. This is done in cases when the nucleus is bulging or herniated, compressing the spinal canal or other nerves around the disc. The success in pain relieve post operatively is usually high; however the procedure significantly alters the biomechanical properties of the disc which may lead to later problems.
